Commitment to Equity Stipend
Application Deadline: November 1
Purpose: To provide one - time stipend assistance to students who is enrolled in an initial certification/licensure program. The award is intended for an individual who identifies as a person of color enrolled in an initial certification/licensure program (master’s or undergraduate) with a demonstrated interest in the field of behavior disorders or a closely related field.
Stipend Amount: $1,000
Recognition: Recipients will be recognized and stipends disbursed at the MSLBD Symposium conference at the end of February in Kansas City, MO. A complimentary conference registration is provided with each award. MSLBD will provide a stipend toward travel and lodging expenses of up to $1,000.
Criteria:
- Applicants must have been accepted in a teacher preparation program that leads to initial special education certification/licensure.
- Must be a full-time student as determined by the applicant's college or university.
- Provide a copy of a current curriculum vita or resume.
- Provide a current transcript showing coursework in progress & anticipated graduation date.
- A brief statement (1-2 pages) of how their personal identity impacts their professional goals related to teaching students with behavior disorders or a closely related field.
- Provide two (2) letters of recommendation (one from a current professor).
