Call for Proposals

2026 Breakout Session Presentations

We invite you to submit both a breakout proposal and a poster proposal. Breakout sessions will not be automatically reviewed for the poster session, a separate poster proposal should be submitted for review. 

Breakout Submission Deadline: June 15th. 
Submissions for the 2026 Symposium will be accepted until 11:59 p.m., Monday, Jun 16, as June 15 falls on a weekend. 

Event: 44th Annual Midwest Symposium for Leadership in Behavior Disorders

Dates: Breakout sessions will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026. (Conference dates March 5, 6, 7, 2026)

Location: Sheraton Kansas City at Crown Center, 2345 McGee Street, Kansas City, Missouri, 64108

Breakout acceptance letters will be sent by July 31. 
Poster acceptance letters will be sent by August 29. 



Information for Presenters

We encourage breakout and poster presentation proposals on a wide array of topics related to children and youth with behavioral or mental health needs. Proposals should:

  • Demonstrate how the proposed session is based on research-based practices, preferably beyond the basic/introductory level;
  • Identify the target audience;
  • Identify the level of content- beginner, intermediate or advanced;
  • List outcomes for participants with an emphasis on practical application.

Sessions for BCBA CEUs

Please review the Guidelines for BCBA CEU Proposals. If you or a co-presenter is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), please consider offering your breakout session for BCBA CEUs. Offering your session for BCBA CEUs does not require additional responsibilities and provides a needed service to BCBAs wishing to maintain certification.

Reminders for All Presenters

  • Only the individual submitting the proposal will be informed about the acceptance status of the presentation.
  • One complimentary registration discount code will be provided per accepted presentation. Save this code to apply in the Fall when registration opens.
  • All presenters must be registered by the early registration deadline in January to be acknowledged in the program. Co-presenters register at the appropriate registration rate based on the date registration is completed. 
  • No travel reimbursement or honorarium will be provided.
  • BREAKOUT Submission Deadline: June 15; Notification Date by July 31
  • Breakout presentations run for 60 minutes at various times on Friday of the Symposium
  • Breakout Sessions are provided an LCD projector, screen, power cart, podium, cable for audio to sound system from a computer, and microphone. Any additional presentation equipment needed is the presenter's responsibility (e.g. computer, HDMI adaptor, slide advanced, easel, chart paper, markers, etc.) Please be sure your computer has a port for HDMI cable or bring the appropriate adaptor for your computer to connect. MSLBD does not provide slide advancers for breakout sessions, please bring your own.  
  • MSLBD provides a basic group wifi connection for access to the internet during sessions. We encourage you to download and run all audio and video files from your laptop and not from the internet to ensure your presentation goes smoothly.
  • Sessions selected for the program are not to be used for marketing commercial or individually produced materials for sale.
