Kristen McKearney, M.Ed.
Kristen McKearney is a K-8 Essentials teacher at a Level III placement for special education in LaVista, NE, for ESU #3. She has taught for 19 years in special education, including 15 years as an Elementary Resource Teacher in a public school setting in Omaha, NE. Kristen graduated in 2004 from the University of Nebraska Kearney with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary K-6 and Special Education K-6. After teaching for some years, Kristen completed a graduate program and received her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Doane, Crete, NE. Over the years, Kristen has been an adjunct teacher for Doane University, teaching Master’s courses on building relationships with students, as well as presenting with her teaching partner, Stephanie Kopecky, at the Nebraska ASD Network State Conferences. She has a passion for working with students who have challenging behaviors, teaching social skills, and using technology to teach, assess, and analyze data to best serve students.
