Outstanding Advocacy Award

Award Description: Midwest Symposium awards a plaque to an individual or an organization who has exhibited outstanding advocacy on behalf of students with emotional/behavioral disorders (EBD) and/or autism spectrum disorders (ASD).
Recognition: Recipient will be recognized at the MSLBD Symposium conference at the end of February in Kansas City, MO. A complimentary conference registration is provided with the award. MSLBD will provide lodging up to two (2) nights at the conference hotel. A stipend up to $600 will be provided towards travel.
Award Criteria: The following criteria are used to determine the recipient. Nominations should include documentation.
- Demonstrate outstanding advocacy for students with EBD and/or ASD, in roles such as a parent, policy maker, administrator, community leader/organization, and so forth;
- Demonstrate leadership skills at the state, regional, or national level that advance awareness and effective treatment and care of students with EBD and/or ASD;
- Demonstrate exemplary personal behaviors that promote and advance effective educational and support practices for students with EBD and/or ASD.
